DROP TRAP

Our new drop trap.  Well made by a carpenter; special netting is used.

Custom feature added so it will fold; made with spruce to be lightweight

Can fit in the back of a car; care must be taken not to rip netting.

Set up outside Mike's lane; smelly wet food in dish at middle/back of trap

Cats were smart, I was at least 25 feet away but they were wary.  Cats circled trap for 20 minutes before one went to eat.  Then others came.

First cat ate (already fixed) and left and then the 6 month old kitten came.  Let him eat for about 3 minutes then yanked with all my might.  Have to have line already taut to drop trap fast otherwise trap might fall on cat and hurt it.  He was flipping around in there and I ran to cover with blanket.

Had to add extra blankets on top to calm kitten; box trap set up against the sliding drop trap door.  Covered box trap with blanket but left far end uncovered.  When I raised doors, Carol flipped blankets at other side which made him run into box trap & doors came down!

Our scared little one; pretty sure it's a boy.  Surgery tomorrow ! Can see how this drop trap is really useful to single out the particular cats you want and let the other ones eat and leave without trapping. Even if you catch one you don't want, you just let it go and collect the ones you do want !
